Greg J. Folsom, M.D. is a board-certified Orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in sports medicine. Dr. Folsom received his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Ga., and his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Birmingham, Ala. Dr. Folsom completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Alabama Hospital, Birmingham, Ala., and a fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at Minnesota Sports Medicine, Minneapolis, Minn. Dr. Folsom is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Folsom has written numerous publications and given several presentations on various topics in orthopaedics and sports medicine.
During his fellowship training, Dr. Folsom served as an assistant team physician for the Minnesota Twins. He has several years of experience providing medical coverage for sports teams at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels. He serves as a team physician for the Kansas City T-Bones baseball club. His special interests include arthroscopic knee and shoulder procedures, shoulder reconstruction including total shoulder replacement and reverse total shoulder replacement, and treatment of sports-related injuries.
In his spare time, Dr. Folsom enjoys water skiing, wakeboarding, golfing, snow skiing, and photography. He resides in Lenexa, Kan. with his wife and two children.
